Rachmaninov All Night Vigil
About this performance
The 1915 composition of Rachmaninov’s stirring All Night Vigil marked the end of an era of religious freedom of expression in Russia. A monumental and sublimely pared-back setting of Russian Orthodox texts, this work (also known as Vespers) draws on Russian, Greek, and Kievan chants.
Join the unaccompanied MSO Chorus to bathe in this meditative and deeply moving music in the stunning acoustic of St Mary Star of the Sea, led by MSO Chorus Director Warren Trevelyan-Jones.
