About this performance
A night of passion, soaring melodies and pure joy.
Ali McGregor is an award-winning, multi-genre artist spanning opera, cabaret and comedy. Starting her career as a principal soprano with Opera Australia, she has also been a regular fixture at the annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival with her Late-Nite Variety-Nite Night. She regularly performs with the Victorian Opera and Opera Queensland and is currently one of the returning Artistic Directors of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. In 2021 she performed as part of MSO's Performance of a Lifetime Live concert at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and brought the crowd to their feet with her show-stopping rendition of Radiohead's Creep.
This May, Ali will take to the stage for one special performance with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to perform songs from Alchemy, as well as other music from her career.
Expect to hear music from her Helpmann Award-winning show Yma Sumac – The Peruvian Songbird, new opera works from ‘Lorelei’ and ‘The Call’, songs from her Alchemy album by INXS, Soft Cell and The Foo Fighters and a few surprise guests.
This one-night-only event will be Ali's third collaboration with the MSO and her first solo concert at Hamer Hall. An evening guaranteed to leave you entranced!
