About this performance
This is a reawakening of our city; a return to the stage for Melbourne’s biggest band.
Specially-selected repertoire from the more than 80 cancelled performances across 2021 will showcase the musical might that only a symphony orchestra can deliver. Feel summer’s early warmth as you experience moments of orchestral magic from Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Elgar and Holst. The night will feature a performance by 14-year old ARIA nominee and MSO Young Artist in Association, Christian Li, performing the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Violin Concerto, and will build into the ultimate climax, Ravel’s Boléro.
These are some of the biggest names in classical music, being performed in our city’s premier outdoor venue and led by our hometown hero, Benjamin Northey.
Enjoy the sight and sound of the MSO as the sun sets over a city we have all missed so dearly these past months.
