Rachelle Stevens is a passionate and dedicated Deaf educator and consultant with a rich history of fostering inclusivity in the arts. Over the last ten years, she has provided consultation to various musical theatre productions under Auslan Stage Left and independently. Her unique perspective on accessibility ensures that the cultural and linguistic aesthetics of each show are not only preserved but celebrated. As an educator, Rachelle's career spans over 15 years, during which she has taught both locally and internationally in the field of Deaf Education. She has a particular passion for small focus group literacy teaching, where she works closely with young Deaf children and adults to nurture their language and literacy skills.
In the past year, Rachelle has had the privilege of collaborating on the Beethoven project, working closely with Karen Kyriakou and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. This experience has been deeply rewarding, and she is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to bring the visual elements of this project to the stage, making it accessible to a broader audience. Outside of her professional pursuits, Rachelle enjoys immersing herself in accessible musical theatre, traveling to new places, exploring diverse culinary experiences, and cherishing quality time with her family.
