Nathaniel Griffiths is an Australian-born conductor, enjoying a flourishing freelance career in Australasia. In the 2024 season, he debuted with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and Queensland Ballet. He made further appearances with the Auckland Philharmonia in their 2024 season, following the success of his assistantship as the 2023 New Zealand Assistant-Conductor-in-Residence.

Passionate about opera, Nathaniel has assisted and covered numerous opera productions at the Queensland Conservatorium, as well as premiering the full orchestration of Lucy Mulgan’s Red! at the Auckland Philharmonia 2024 Summer School. He made his opera debut in 2022 with the Queensland Conservatorium Opera Orchestra, in a performance of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene.

Nathaniel was a participant in the 2023/24 iteration of the Australian Conducting Academy, affording him the opportunity to work with Australia’s leading symphony orchestras and their titled conductors. He is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium, where he studied conducting with Johannes Fritzsch.

Nathaniel looks forward to joining the Australian Ballet for their 2025 season as the Robert and Elizabeth Albert Conducting Fellow.
