The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is heading to the United Kingdom and Europe in August 2025 for its first international tour with full orchestra since visiting North America in 2019.
The tour begins at the 2025 Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland. Following this, the MSO heads to Chief Conductor Jaime Martín’s hometown of Santander, to perform at the Santander International Festival, one of Spain’s oldest music festivals.
“I am particularly thrilled to bring the MSO to my hometown of Santander. It’s where I grew up, where my family still live, and most importantly, where I was first introduced to orchestral music by my father.”
The MSO then travels to the Italian Alps for the 40th anniversary season of the Südtirol Festival in the idyllic spa town of Merano. The Hamburg concert will be performed at the landmark Elbphilharmonie, a stunning crystal tower built in the middle of the river Elbe in Hamburg.
In a coup for the MSO, Chief Conductor Jaime Martín and the orchestra have been invited to end the tour at the world’s greatest classical music festival, the iconic BBC Proms, held at Royal Albert Hall in London.

The MSO’s international touring is generously supported by the Gandel Foundation, Metal Manufactures Electrical Merchandising and MSO Tour Circle patrons.
