The Sidney Myer Free Concerts are free, non-ticketed events. This means that entry is provided on a first-come, first-in basis. Once the attendee capacity number has been reached, entry will be closed. We recommend arriving early to avoid missing out.

Gates open at 5.30pm, with concerts beginning at 7.30pm. On Saturday 22 February the Melbourne Youth Orchestra presents a Curtain Raiser performance at 6pm.

The Sidney Myer Music Bowl is largely comprised of grass areas, with paths running across the lawn and throughout the wider Kings Domain Gardens. These paths form ramp access to the Bowl, allowing entry to all sections of the venue.

Getting around this venue can be challenging for wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility, due to the varied and uneven gradient of paths and terrain.  The path from Linlithgow Ave to Gate 1 is a compact gravel path on an incline that not all guests find easy to navigate. 

The Sidney Myer Music Bowl has a golf buggy available that the venue team can operate should you require assistance getting from Linlithgow Ave to the venue entrance. The golf buggy seats up to 2 people plus the driver and is not able to be pre-booked. Please seek out the venue team located on Linlithgow Avenue, around the base of the path that leads to Gate 1, when you arrive, should you need to use this service. They will be wearing orange hi-vis vests.

An accessible entrance is available at Gate 1 – which is near the part of Linlithgow Avenue that runs parallel to St Kilda Rd. Gate 1 is up the hill, in front of the King George Monument.

Once inside the venue, the pathway leading down to the seated stalls area has a gradient at 1:5. The venue team are unable to handle wheelchairs directly but they can act as a spotter. There are no tactile ground surface indicators installed prior to steps in Stalls seating.

Spaces for wheelchair or scooter users are available in the stalls and balcony sections of the Bowl, all with companion seating available. For general admission performances these seats cannot be reserved, but are held for patrons with access requirements. Venue staff will be available to assist in finding these seats.

Accessible toilets are located at the rear of the Stalls and near Gate 1, behind the lawn.

Venue staff will be stationed at the site entry on Linlithgow Avenue, the Gate 1 Entry and at various posts inside the venue. Staff can be identified by their bright orange ACM-branded hi-vis vests.

Due to safety restrictions, the venue is unable to provide pass outs. If you leave the venue you will only be able to re-enter if there is still capacity available.

The Sidney Myer Free Concerts will be operating at the maximum capacity, which is roughly 12,000 attendees. This means you may be seated next to and near other patrons.

You are welcome to pack a picnic and bring your own food to the Sidney Myer Free Concerts. Please note that glass (excluding wine bottles), hard-sided containers or large eskies and large/sharp knives are not permitted within the venue.

There are free refillable water stations available. We recommend you bring your own reusable water bottle (no glass) to the event. Please ensure your water bottle is empty when entering the venue. A moderate amount of BYO alcoholic beverages is permitted to these concerts.

A range of food and drink choices will be available at the event. Various food trucks will be onsite, as well a bar for those over 18 years of age (Proof of age will be required). Please note that the Sidney Myer Music Bowl is a cashless venue, accepting Visa / Mastercard / American Express only.

We encourage you to bring a picnic rug or floor seating. Chairs that are raised higher than 20cm off the ground are not permitted, and you cannot set up any shade structures.

Umbrellas are allowed into the main lawn area but are required to be closed during the performance so as not to obstruct the view of those behind you.

Yes, there is a free cloakroom facility available. The cloakroom is located outside the venue, to the right of the Gate 1 entrance.

Yes, families and children are welcome at the Sidney Myer Free Concerts. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. If bringing children, please consider the 7.30pm start time, and the check the weather conditions for the evening of the concert.

Yes, the venue is wheelchair, walker and scooter accessible. Assistive listening devices are also available and registered assistance are welcome at Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

Unless you have a registered service animal, you cannot bring any animals or pets to the concerts.

The concerts will go ahead - rain, hail or shine. The Sidney Myer Music Bowl is an outdoor amphitheatre. If rain or bad weather occurs, the show will proceed, unless deemed unsafe to do so. If it’s looking a little rainy, don’t forget to bring a raincoat.
