Work Experience
Work Experience Placements in 2010
Work experience placements for 2010 are now closed.
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra receives many work experience applications, but has limited places available. Preference is given to students who wish to pursue a career as an orchestral musician.
Students will observe all orchestral rehearsals for the period they are with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. In addition, there may be some administration work available in the music library or in the orchestral administration office. The opportunity also exists for students to interact with the musicians. The aim of work experience at the MSO is to give students an overall feel for how an orchestra is run and to appreciate the work that is involved behind the scenes, not just the performances.
Work experience is what the student makes of it; they need to ask questions and put the effort in to understand the overall running of an orchestra.
